　　8月8日上午，2020-2021年度中西傳統(tǒng)藝術(shù)展覽開幕儀式在蘇州元圓堂舉行。

On the morning of August 8, the opening ceremony of the 2020-2021 Chinese and Western Traditional Art Exhibition was held in the Yuan Centre in Suzhou.

　　開幕儀式由學(xué)院中國中心理事葉放先生主持，部分授課老師和其他來自文化和藝術(shù)界的人士參加了此次的開幕儀式。

The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Ye Fang, Director of the PFSTA China Centre. Participants in the opening ceremony included teachers from the China Centre as well as guests from arts and cultural circles. 

　　英國王儲基金會傳統(tǒng)藝術(shù)學(xué)院院長Dr. Khaled Azzam，以及中國中心發(fā)起人張頌仁先生以視頻的方式為展覽的開幕發(fā)來了祝賀。

Dr. Khaled Azzam, Dean of the Prince’s School of Traditional Arts, and Mr. Chang Tsong-zung, founder of the China Centre, sent their congratulations on the opening of the exhibition through video.

Dr. Khaled Azzam:

I would like to start by congratulating our graduating student for the high quality of work that she has achieved this year.But I would also like to congratulate all the students who have participated in the different modules that have been offered.We are always very proud and impressed by the quality of work that the students in Suzhou achieve and this year has been no different.Although we have not been there to witness it ourselves, from what we have seen, the standard of dedication and skill exhibited in this work is exceptionally impressive and something that all should be very proud of.

　　我首先要祝賀我們的畢業(yè)生在過去這一年完成的高質(zhì)量作品。同時(shí)，也要祝賀所有參加了不同短期課程的學(xué)員們。我們一直為蘇州學(xué)員們所取得的成績印象深刻，並為之感到自豪，今年也不例外。儘管我們無法親臨現(xiàn)場觀展，但就我們所見的，這些作品展現(xiàn)出了各位所付出的巨大努力和精湛技藝，這些都令人印象深刻，值得所有人為之自豪。

The Suzhou Centre is very special for us.It is a partnership with the Prince’s Foundation that enables the exchange of cultural integrity and cultural exchange and intellectual wisdom forward.It brings civilisations together through the language of arts and crafts.It allows young people to discover their place in this world today, not through difference, but through sameness and through unity.We love that the name of the Centre is the Centre of Unity.

　　自2018 第一屆開學(xué)以來，王儲學(xué)院在蘇州的中國中心的宗旨就是：活潑地結(jié)合西方與中國的傳統(tǒng)視覺藝術(shù)，響應(yīng)王儲對「和諧」的理念。西學(xué)的基礎(chǔ)是伊斯蘭和西歐傳承的神聖幾何學(xué)，中學(xué)的根基是山水學(xué)和文字學(xué)所反映的大自然原則。本屆的展覽呈現(xiàn)了文化傳統(tǒng)在新時(shí)代的生命力，同時(shí)也奠定了中西交流的穩(wěn)固基礎(chǔ)。隨著經(jīng)驗(yàn)的累積，期待中國中心對傳統(tǒng)藝術(shù)的貢獻(xiàn)與日俱增。

Since its opening in 2018, the mission of the China Centre of PSTA in Suzhou has been to create a dynamic interface between the traditional visual arts of China and the West, as a response to the Prince’s concept of "harmony". The foundation of western learning is the sacred geometry inherited from the Islamic tradition and Western Europe, while the foundation of Chinese learning is the Principles of Nature as reflected in both the study of landscape and of calligraphy-philology. This exhibition demonstrates the revitalisation of cultural traditions in a new age, and at the same time a strengthening of the foundation for East-West exchange.As we continue to build on our strengths and experience, I look forward to the ever-increasing contribution of the China Center to the knowledge, understanding and practice of the traditional arts.

　　本年度的中西傳統(tǒng)藝術(shù)展，入選的作品均為PFSTA中國中心一學(xué)年以來預(yù)科和研修學(xué)員的優(yōu)秀創(chuàng)作和習(xí)作，向大家呈現(xiàn)中國中心獨(dú)到藝術(shù)教學(xué)的成果，同時(shí)，也期待與大家交流教學(xué)的理念和分享學(xué)習(xí)的經(jīng)驗(yàn)。

In this year’s Chinese and Western Traditional Art Exhibition the selected works on display are outstanding examples of the creative achievements of PFSTA China Centre students, applying the skills and knowledge gained from their research and hands-on learning experiences during their first academic year of study at the Centre. They eloquently communicate the effectiveness of the unique teaching methodologies and conceptual approach of our curriculum. We look forward to sharing more about the China Centre’s activities and unique learning experience with the public.

　　學(xué)員通過中西傳統(tǒng)藝術(shù)課程的學(xué)習(xí)，學(xué)習(xí)了一系列中西方傳統(tǒng)藝術(shù)的思想和技藝，包括西方的幾何與圖案、材料與技法和幾何設(shè)計(jì)原理、設(shè)計(jì)原理應(yīng)用，以及中國的說文與書法、風(fēng)水與山水、冶園與園冶和佛像與巖彩等等，通過理論與實(shí)踐相結(jié)合的教學(xué)方式，對中西傳統(tǒng)藝術(shù)在當(dāng)代的繼承與發(fā)揚(yáng)有了難能可貴的認(rèn)識與體會。

In their coursework in both traditional Chinese and Western art, students have learned a variety of artistic concepts and skills from both cultural traditions, including Western geometric patterns, materials and techniques, geometric design principles, and application of design principles; as well as Chinese philological principles and calligraphy, feng shui and ink landscape painting, gardens and  garden design, Buddhist statuary and mineral-colour mural painting, among others. As such, our students have gained both valuable understanding and direct experience of the inheritance and further development of traditional Chinese and Western art in the contemporary era.

　　本次展覽的作品包括幾何設(shè)計(jì)、瓷磚設(shè)計(jì)、顏料製作、蛋彩繪畫、細(xì)木鑲嵌，以及水墨山水、園林設(shè)計(jì)、敦煌巖彩等，內(nèi)容豐富，形式多樣，中西合璧的方法不僅為普通藝術(shù)院校教育中所不常見，更為傳統(tǒng)文化的當(dāng)代發(fā)展打開了煥然一新的道路。

The works displayed demonstrate rich content and diverse forms, including geometric pattern design, tile design, natural colour pigments, tempera painting, and fine wood inlay, as well as ink landscape, garden design, and Dunhuang mineral-color mural painting.. This method of combining Chinese and Western artistic disciplines not only is uncommon in most art schools, it also opens up a new path for the contemporary development of traditional culture.

　　本課程學(xué)習(xí)完成后合格的學(xué)生，將獲頒「傳統(tǒng)藝術(shù)預(yù)科證書」。

　　課程為獨(dú)立藝術(shù)家的實(shí)踐和未來進(jìn)一步的深造奠定基礎(chǔ)。課程結(jié)束後，畢業(yè)生將完成一份豐富飽滿的作品集，以此直接對口申請倫敦王儲學(xué)院的碩士課程以及英國其他藝術(shù)學(xué)院的本科或碩士課程。
