遙遠(yuǎn)的目光
我認(rèn)為我們的確失去了某些東西,而且應(yīng)該盡力嘗試以期能將之尋回。

科技的進(jìn)步消除了距離,無論相隔多遠(yuǎn),人們都因身處這科技制造的勻質(zhì)時空中,做著近乎相同的事情,思考近乎相同的問題。我們周遭的世界,似乎已經(jīng)不存在一個真正意義上的遠(yuǎn)方。
或許正因如此,遠(yuǎn)行才顯得尤為重要。那些隱匿的精神性,必須借助游歷,這一切身行動的方式才能尋回。
石煜作為一名藝術(shù)家和游歷者,深諳遠(yuǎn)行的重要性。在距離產(chǎn)生的流動性中,他帶著不安,被一種遙遠(yuǎn)的神圣之物吸引。追尋著光亮,石煜看到了火。無論是恒河之上熊熊燃燒的祭祀之火,或是長城烽火臺上已經(jīng)化作青煙的防御之火,作為線索,火引發(fā)了藝術(shù)家的種種思慮與熱望。火是自律,是告誡,恰似來自父輩的目光?;鹗菬崆?,是灑脫,圍繞著火,我們永遠(yuǎn)是舞蹈的孩童。

有趣的是,石煜始終以一種印象主義式的人類學(xué)觀察方法進(jìn)行創(chuàng)作。雖然身處當(dāng)?shù)?,卻對眼前的一切保持著迷惘與疏離,以期記錄下最原初的吸引。以寫意的筆觸,描繪心靈的感知。
在此,遠(yuǎn)行與繪畫同作為心靈的修行過程,使得人、作品、世界構(gòu)成一個“場”。在這個“場”中,一切都只能遠(yuǎn)觀,一切都只映射在這搖曳的火光中。

A Distant Look
I think we have lost something, and we should try our best to get it back.

The progress of technology has removed the barrier of distance. And now, no matter how far apart people are, they are doing almost the same things and pondering about almost the same questions, because they are in this homogeneous space-time created by technology. A real sense of distant place seems not be in existence in the world today.

Maybe that is where the significance of traveling resides in. The hidden spirituality must be recovered through travel, a way of stepping into nature.

An artist and a traveler, Shi Yu understands the importance of going on a journey. In the fluidity created by distance, he is drawn to a remote and sacred object with unease. Pursuing the light, Shi Yu saw fire. Whether it is the ritual fire burning above the Ganges or the defensive fire on the beacons of the Great Wall that has been turned into smoke, fire serves as a clue to the artist’s thoughts and aspirations. Fire symbolizes self-discipline and admonition, just like the gaze from fathers. And fire also embodies enthusiasm and spontaneity, around which we are always dancing children.

Shi Yu paints with an impressionistic anthropological observation method. Although he lives locally, he remains confused and detached from everything he can see, in order to record the most original attraction. With bold outline but vivid expression, he depicts the perception of his mind.

In this way, travel and painting, both as ways of spiritual practicing, integrate people, works and the world into a field. In this field, everything can only be watched from afar, and everything is reflected in the wavering firelight.
